http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=987487 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=987487#c1 --- Comment #1 from Johannes Obermayr <johannesobermayr@gmx.de> --- Is here really nobody who can help to track down or fix that annoying sddm/Plasma5 issue? I attached following to /etc/permissios.local: /usr/bin/Xorg root:root 4755 /usr/bin/xinit root:root 4755 /usr/bin/X root:root 4755 With that I can at least "startx" Plasma5 with user privileges ... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Try a different window manager, like IceWM. If that works, try plasma again and upload ~/.xsession-errors-:0. If it doesn't, attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=987487 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=987487#c4 John Sheehy <jes@afn.org> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |jes@afn.org --- Comment #4 from John Sheehy <jes@afn.org> --- I am having this same issue in current TW release (VERSION_ID="20190215"). This is the first time I have encountered this issue with TW since beginning to use it on this machine in 2012. It's difficult to find the sddm log file, since there is a memory corruption bub in sddm that makes sddm put it in a random directory in the user's home directory. Here's my output from ~/R?U/.local/share/sddm/xorg-session.log: nohup: missing operand Try 'nohup --help' for more information. Which isn't very helpful. There are no .xsession-errors files created. Tried several different window managers and still get the exact same behavior.
I assume this was caused by the use-after-free in sddm - the version in the update channel (sddm-0.18.0-8.1) should've fixed that. Can you confirm? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Booting from: openSUSE-Leap-15.0-KDE-Live-x86_64-Snapshot20.168-Media.iso works perfectly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
