Which may not be a major problem in itself -- there is the PK updater and YaST package installer of course -- but it leads to the lack of folders in the application overview for categories like "Sundry", "Utilities", and most importantly "YaST". Without these folders, the application overview looks bloated with too many applications (see attached images). If the removal of gnome-software (from the default GNOME pattern) has been done intentionally, please consider that it is currently the only user-friendly way BIOS updates can be carried out (via fwupd) from inside the GNOME desktop without requiring some other OS entirely. What a mess. On openSUSE the gnome pattern requires gnome_basis whereas on SLE it uses gnome_basic. The latter is based on the former and includes stuff like gnome-sofware. I don't get the sense of that.
in short, gnome_basic is GNOME desktop for SLES, gnome is GNOME desktop for SLED. And initially, gnome-software was supposed to be only on SLED (but not anymore). And for SLE15, unlike on SLE12, I made sure to have a common pattern between both.
