Summary: can't shutdown as root from kdm with
Product: openSUSE 12.2
Version: RC 1
OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2
Priority: P5 - None
Found By: ---
User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en) Presto/2.10.289
When I set DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="root" I can't shutdown from kdm
The popup-window asks for a root password, but doesn't seem to react to any
keyboard input. When I click the "Ok" button I get "Authentication
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install openSUSE 12.2 RC1 w/o changing options (i disabled the firewall,
2. Set DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="root" in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager
3. run SuSEconfig (I'm not sure this is required)
5. try to shutdown the system from the displaymanagers login screen
Error message "Authentication failed"
System shuts down
I first noticed this with a NIS based install. For this report I tried
installations with plain /etc/password authentication.
Also, I noticed this before, maybe even 12.1, but at least on 12.2 milestones
