https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772344 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772344#c0 Summary: can't shutdown as root from kdm with DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="root" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: kleinrob@mpip-mainz.mpg.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en) Presto/2.10.289 Version/12.00 When I set DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="root" I can't shutdown from kdm anymore. The popup-window asks for a root password, but doesn't seem to react to any keyboard input. When I click the "Ok" button I get "Authentication failed" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 12.2 RC1 w/o changing options (i disabled the firewall, though) 2. Set DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="root" in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager 3. run SuSEconfig (I'm not sure this is required) 4. reboot 5. try to shutdown the system from the displaymanagers login screen Actual Results: Error message "Authentication failed" Expected Results: System shuts down I first noticed this with a NIS based install. For this report I tried installations with plain /etc/password authentication. Also, I noticed this before, maybe even 12.1, but at least on 12.2 milestones -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
