Hi Andreas,
there is no error during Yast setup (the same happens on Ubuntu Feisty with
debian-installer).
The only error you can see, during bootup (and dmesg) is, that the superblock
of this >2TB device is corrupted.
When you push an xfs fs onto the blockdevice (without partition tables) it
works flawlessly. So, IMHO it's a bug in parted which writes wrong eit/gpt
tables.
The parted on SLES9/Ubuntu Dapper works correctly.
I found some traces of simlilar bugs in Parteds trac application:

This is all I can give you right now in this moment, just because I deleted the
sles10 on those machines and used sles9 on it.
