OK. I just spent 30 very frustrating minutes.
I have two machines: one is a cups server (192.168.1.2) and one is a cups
(client only! 192.168.1.10).
The client has, in client.conf, only one non-comment line:
ServerName 192.168.1.2
The server is up, as I can easily browse to 192.168.1.2:631.
There is no cups process running on the client.
libreoffice shows the printer and - when printing - does not indicate that
there is any sort of error.
The logs in /var/log/cups are quite literally empty.
No files get created in /var/spool/cups
The logs on the *server* don't show any sort of access.
Restarting libreoffice doesn't improve matters.
Restarting cupsd (which apparently just starts cups-polld) on the client does
not improve matters.
A tcpdump on the client shows traffic from the polld but NO OTHER TRAFFIC to
port 631 (except an occasional UDP broadcast packet).
So here is what I'm left with:
a client that looks like it can print from libreoffice, *appears* to print
successfully, but print jobs - as far as I can tell - literally go nowhere.
I am going to wipe the client config and start over using the yast printer
configurator.
