I simply removed the offending file /etc/pam.d/gdb-fingerprint
After all it says "Sample PAM file" in the first line.
That way I can enable and disable fprint auth with yast no problem.
Authentication with su, sudo, text console login and graphical login (kdm)
still works as expected.
I guess that file isn't meant to be there at all?
Maybe the same holds for /etc/pam.d/gdb-smartcard?
Not sure though because I use kdm and not gdm.
