Basically the same error messages here:
[ 1262.515041] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Unhandled sense code
[ 1262.515070] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK
driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE
[ 1262.515094] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]
[ 1262.515118] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Add. Sense: Timeout on logical unit
[ 1262.515176] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 253336
[ 1262.515203] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 31667
System:
- AMD Phenom II X4, 8 GB RAM
- openSUSE 11.2, 64 bit, KDE 4.4.00 "release 222"
- SATA DVD drive TSSTcorp CD/DVD SH-S183L (Samsung label)
A data CD burned using k3b does not mount automatically on the same machine,
but it can be mounted manually (mount /dev/sr0 /mnt). It takes some time to
mount, however.
The same data CD also mounts in Windows XP in a VirtualBox on the same machine,
and in Windows XP (dual boot on the same machine).
A data CD burned in Windows (dual boot on the same machine) mounts
automatically in openSUSE on the same machine.
An audio CD or an audio or data DVD burned using k3b on the same machine, mount
automatically.
Using a slightly newer CD/DVD burner (SH-S223F) makes no difference.
The same data CD mounts automatically on the same openSUSE machine when using
an external USB CD/DVD burner.
