It takes some time to mount, however. The same data CD also mounts in Windows XP in a VirtualBox on the same machine, and in Windows XP (dual boot on the same machine). A data CD burned in Windows (dual boot on the same machine) mounts automatically in openSUSE on the same machine. An audio CD or an audio or data DVD burned using k3b on the same machine, mount automatically. Using a slightly newer CD/DVD burner (SH-S223F) makes no difference.
