Hi Greg. Thanks for such a prompt reply. Judging from the mount options, the
sync option was not used.
However, I managed to "resolve" the problem by downgrading the BIOS on my
notebook from A08 to A07. Once the BIOS was downgraded, that 1Gb file got
transferred at 25Mb/sec in ~40 sec.
Interestingly, the BIOS downgrade also eliminated all the "ACPI: EC: input
buffer is not empty, aborting transaction" messages that used to fill the
syslog (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=564297).
I guess Dell don't test their BIOSes thoroughly enough.
So, I guess this issue could be closed. Thanks again for very quick response!
