I believe that I have encountered the same bug. Yesterday, my tumbleweed
installation (originally installed roughly 18 months ago, I think, and more or
less regularly updated) has updated thousands of packages, and now my pdflatex
does not work (executed from emacs/auctex):
------------------------------
Running `LaTeX' on `manin_sym' with ``pdflatex -file-line-error --synctex=1
-interaction=nonstopmode "\input" manin_sym.tex''
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159265-2.6-1.40.19 (TeX Live 2018/TeX Live for SUSE
Linux) (preloaded format=pdflatex)
restricted \write18 enabled.
---! /var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdftex/pdflatex.fmt made by different executable
version
(Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)
TeX Output exited abnormally with code 1 at Tue May 22 11:02:16
