i found this in dmesg:
BIOS age (2000) fails cutoff (2001), acpi=force is required to enable ACPI
that worked.
so my system is too old to have soft-power-off enabled by default ?
i`m just curious why this works out of the box with xp but not with linux.
isn`t it a little bit complicated to hide such message in dmesg and expecting
the average user to find it there, to be able to interpret acpi=force related
to soft-power-off? many users don`t even know how to add that to grub config.
