https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=444158 Summary: hal: QStarz GPS (CP2101) is not a scanner Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 4 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sbrabec@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I have a QStarz BT-Q1000P GPS Data Logger: Bus 003 Device 004: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x Composite Device After connecting it to an USB port, YaST2 scanner appears Hal thinks, that the device is a scanner: udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_10c4_ea60_0001' info.capabilities = {'scanner'} (string list) info.linux.driver = 'usb' (string) info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_1d6b_1_0000_00_10_2' (string) info.product = 'CP210x Composite Device' (string) info.subsystem = 'usb_device' (string) info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_10c4_ea60_0001' (string) info.vendor = 'Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc.' (string) linux.device_file = '/dev/bus/usb/003/004' (string) .. It may be true for some CP2101 devices, but surely not for all of them. CP2101 is nothing more than a USB-to-serial adapter. To detect more, you probably have to start to communicate with the device. In case of this GPS, you will probably get no reply. GPS behaves in this way even if it is turned off. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
