If you see this USB id, you can guess nothing about the class of the device. It can be: - scanner - GPS - smart card reader - USB-to-serial cable To be able to guess more, you have to start communication over /dev/ttyUSBx. Even then, the guess is often impossible. For example, Qstarz GPS use bus powered CP2101 chip, but battery powered GPS device. Even if GPS is off, CP2101 chip is detected.
