https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=232013 ------- Comment #6 from Joseph.Comfort@asu.edu 2007-01-06 17:43 MST ------- Because Bug 231059 is marked as duplicate, I will copy information from it and 231056 here. (See also bug 229217.) Computer: HP Pavilion a1520n. Motherboard: Asus A8N-LA (Nagami2-GL8E). AMD dual X2 3800+ cup. 1 GB memory. 2 SATA disks (one added for Linux). x64_64 dvd iso downloaded and burned. All md5sums are OK. None of the installation options work unless boot parameters are used. Without them, the booting stops at "Starting udev..." If one invokes acpi=off (or =noirq), the installation gets further but dies when no hard disks (sata) are found. In aborting back to text mode, I can display (but do not know how to capture on media) the Kernel Messages. It appears that 2 processors are detected and set up, prior to the switching to color frame buffer device. Later messages include: libata version 2.00 loaded sata_nv 0000:00:0e.0: version 2.00 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:0e.0 to 64 ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x9F0 ctl 0xBF2 bmda 0xF800 irq 153 ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x970 ctl 0xB72 bmda 0xF808 irq 153 sata_nv 0000:00:0e.e: irq 153 request failed: -38 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:0f.0 to 64 ata3: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x9E0 ctl 0xBE2 bmda 0xF300 irq 161 ata4: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x960 ctl 0xB62 bmda 0xF308 irq 161 sata_nv 0000:00:0f.0: irq 161 request failed: -38 usbcore: registered new driver usbfs usbcore: registered new driver hub PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin B device 0000:00:0b.1. However, it appears that I have only one active cpu processor. The system will not boot if I change maxcpus to 1 or 2. Note that SuSE 10.1 installed without any extra parameters. Also, I found that an i585 install dvd does not need extra parameters. I aborted before the actual installation, but I'm sure it would be successful. The problem is somewhere in the x86_64 installation for 10.2 (only). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
