I cannot reproduce it on my SLED11-SP1 workstation
with up-to-date printing packages (e.g. CUPS 1.5.0)
with a HP LaserJet 1220 using the HPCUPS driver when
printing /usr/share/cups/webcontent/images/sample-image.png
from the command line.
Have a look at "Background Information" in
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:How_to_Report_a_Printing_Issue
If you cannot reproduce it with
/usr/share/cups/webcontent/images/sample-image.png
attach a (small) example file to make sure
we use the same input data for our tests.
Does it also happen when you print
/usr/share/cups/webcontent/images/sample-image.png
or your particular file from the command line like
lp -d print_queue file_name
versus
lp -d print_queue -o landscape file_name
Perhaps you need additional options like
-o fit-to-page
-o scaling=100
if your image is bigger than the printable area.
See "Command-Line Printing and Options" at
http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/doc-1.5/options.html
