From my information, the recommended MTU values are as follows: 576 - for dial-up connections 1492 - for PPPoE broadband connections 1500 - Ethernet, DSL and cable broadband connections
How about this text? "MTU is the maximum size of a packet that can be transferred in one frame over the network. 1500 is the recommended MTU for ethernet devices, however, you may need to set lower MTU values (1492, 576) for DSL and dial-up connections to increase network performance". Martin, I'm not in favor of setting some fixed MTU value for all devices. In sysconfig files for network devices, no MTU value is set by default and normally you don't even need one. By setting it, something else may break. So I believe a good explanation in help text may be sufficient -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
