--- Comment #17 from Felix Miata 2013-02-20 18:37:45 UTC ---
The comment 0 machine was not mine, so I don't have it to follow up with. My
machines all either have a floppy drive, or have BIOS settings for floppy that
do not include ON, but only a choice between AUTO and OFF.
I opened up 2.4GHz Celeron host t2200 to disable its floppy drive by pulling
its power plug, then initialized HTTP installation from factory-snapshot via
Grub. With "Activating usb devices" showing on last tty1 line, fd0 I/O errors
were showing on tty4 @ 68, 107, 145, 183, 221, 259. With drivers: e100*,
eepro100 showing on last line on tty1, more fd0 errors added on tty4 @ 298,
336, 374, 412, 450, 489, 527 before start of "Loading Installation System",
after which fd0 errors continued to be added to tty4. fd0 error @ 565 was
shortly followed by start of GUI. 645 was last mark before "*** Starting YaST2
***". Nothing has followed there for more than 5 minutes since, while YaST is
stuck on 60% searching for partitions.
