Yes, I understand that. I never intended to have binary blobs (which is why I use nouveau, otherwise I would simply use the proprietary driver). So I am back to: How come VDPAU and VA-API don't work in Leap 15.1, considering they are listed as supported ("DONE") by nouveau for VP5? Yes, I am reading the "Firmware" section on the link you: "However, VP1/2/3/4/5 all require firmware to operate that is presently extracted from the NVIDIA binary driver." But does this mean that VDPAU and VA-API would only work if a binary blob (EXTFW) is installed? If it means that - then what good is nouveau at all (FOSS-wise) if one still must use proprietary blobs?
