Comment 15:
Thomas, the output looks allright, and zypper does report an error with an exit
status of 4. The prompt is there, but an automatic answer is used instead of
waiting for user input (or not?).
The updater can parse the <prompt> tag, check that it is a dependency problem
prompt (1 - see /usr/include/zypper/prompt.h) and display whatever is necessery
from it's contents (probably the description).
I wanted to avoid writing out a separate <message type="error"> followed by a
prompt in such cases. Bad approach?
Comment 17:
1) hmmm.. yes that is a problem, zypper run as non-root (from the updater) has
no permissions to write to /var/log/zypper.log. One workaround would be to set
ZYPP_LOGFILE environment variable before starting zypper or the updater.
2) You're probably right. If you can still reproduce the problem with the
updater, you can run the exact zypper command as the updater does (Thomas, pls
correct me if i'm wrong) in the console:
$ ZYPP_LOGFILE=myzypper.log zypper -xn up -l -t package
