https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=371539 Summary: pata_atiixp hangs while loading in SuSE 10.3 install Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: epsilon@etmoonshade.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer Created an attachment (id=202325) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=202325) Picture of place where pata_atiixp hangs. This actually happens on both x86 and x86_64. While loading the "basic drivers", it loads up "Elitegroup SB600 Mono-RAID-5 SATA" (ahci), and then attempts to load "Elitegroup SB600 IDE" (pata_atiixp). On the second one, it hangs for at least 20 minutes with no extra messages. I admit, I didn't let it sit any longer than that, having better things to use my computer for than a load for the apartment power grid. Twiddling around with this, and using the "broken_modules" command-line parameter to disable pata_atiixp, and then atiixp (which did the same thing), it finally loaded ata_generic - once I got into installation though, it coudln't detect my IDE disc drives, so I couldn't install. I'm running a Phenom 9600 processor on a ECS motherboard with the ATI SB700 chipset, and trying to install onto an IDE drive. I noticed a couple of bugs (299010, 291744, 284195) that had similar descriptions, but all the ones I saw that were regarding the ATI SB700 chipset were reputed to be fixed by 10.3. I have pictures of my screen, although chronic caffeine shakes keep me from getting a good one with my phone. I'll attempt to get any information requested in a timely manner for y'all, and attach what I've got anyway for you to squint at. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
