The floppy problems show up only with openSUSE 12.2. So it seems the kernel
_did_ something differently in the past. It's no good to move the blame to
userland. Either I can use the device or not. If the kernel can't figure that
out, how should normal programs do that?
If you don't want to support legacy floppies because they don't fit the modern
autodetect and hotplug philosophy - then please disable the modules completely.
But don't put the burden of detecting a working floppy drive on the user.
