The issue is that starting X in runlevel 5 takes so long.
I see that X is started, then it takes 8 to 9 seconds until the black screen
and the X cursor is shown. During this time, the timing for the LCD is wrong.
Maybe the chip/card is left in an undefined state during that startup time?
It does not matter if kernel radeonfb or kernel offb is active.
I tried to boot into runlevel 3, then ran init 5.
Now the X startup is faster, but there is still a wrong LCD timing for 1 or 2
seconds.
It seems to me that the chip or LCD init depends on the system load, while it
probably should be some kind of atomic operation (get everything done in one
go).
The Xorg.log does not help much because it has not detailed timestamps.
