In kcontrol, I changed the Session Manager settings to "Restore manually saved session" but the menu item "Save Session" does not appear in the K menu (I would have expected it to turn up in the "Leave" tab but I couldn't find it there nor anywhere else). The -Incursesw doesn't work for me although I run configure with --prefix=/usr. I would like to include the script in attachment #98679 in the sane package and run it as postinstall script so that an update of the sane package in the running system would automatically result that HAL knows about new USB scanners. Additionally the fdi file for the currently known USB scanners (i.e. attachment #98680) should be included in the hal package so that after system installation from scratch HAL knows about USB scanners and generic SCSI scanners. Finally /etc/hal/fdi/policy/90osvendor/80-resmgr.fdi must be changed so that the hal-resmgr callout is added and that it actually works. My change according to attachment #98681 works for me using HAL and resmgr as is in Suse Linux 10.1 onm my workstation where I have my scanners connected to.
