Through a quick comparison between both dmesg outputs, there is no anything obvious there: both kernels detected and initialized the designware i2c and HID drivers properly. And, when I read through the commits between *.69 and *.72 kernels, there are no significant difference in the relevant code (i2c, HID, platform, input) at all. It's puzzling... Could you try to install evtest package and test the input devices directly on both working and non-working kernels? Testing only the touchpad device should be enough. Also, please try the latest kernel in OBS Kernel:openSUSE-15.2 repo, too.
