Pointer appears can be moved but clicking is impossible (no effect at all). When my USB wired mouse is plugged in the clicks on trackpad are not working either, I have to unplug the USB mouse for the trackpad to start working again. But the reporter is Gerald. Maybe your case looks very similar, but how do you know the root cause is the same? I mean there has a possibility when I fix your problem, but Gerald's is still there. I know decided to use the internal gpu (HD530) and get ride of the nvidia. The system stopped to switch off and reboot properly. I have to do it brutally every single time. It seems it hangs without a particular reason.
