Since these flavors are not build on SLE they are pulled from the backports - which is fine. While linking gdb, /usr/lib64/libpcre2-posix.so.2 is pulled in (my guess is via libdebuginfod.so.1) and the regcomp from pcre2 is used instead. However, still the re_search is used from glibc, so we end up calling re_search in glibc with an incompatible regular expression (because not created by glibc). AFAIU from this ( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1667614 ) the approach for pcre was to rename the symbols to prevent overriding glibc's symbols. I haven't seen any patch for pcre2 like this, but on Leap 15.2 I noticed there's no regcomp symbol exported. But on tumbleweed there is.
