"/sys/module/kernel/parameters/consoleblank" contains 0, meaning blanking is disabled. I see this can be changed at boot time with kernel argument 'consoleblank=xx', or with 'setterm --blank' later on. TW kernel (i.e. the one in Kernel:stable) has very few backport patches, and very close to the upstream as is. 4.16.x kernel seems showing the very same symptom; it gets a fifo PBDMA0 error (although it shows repeatedly), then Oops at resume in evo_wait(). So, it'd be really better to report to upstream. I tried the kernel:stable repo, laptop still won't suspend, but kernel log is a little bit different this time. The reason for the failure in Tumbleweed is a change from icu-60.2 to icu-61.1 in file source/common/unicode/platform.h. These are the affected lines: icu-60.2 -------- #elif U_PLATFORM == U_PF_ANDROID || U_PLATFORM_IS_DARWIN_BASED # define U_CHARSET_IS_UTF8 1 icu-61.1 -------- #elif U_PLATFORM_IS_LINUX_BASED || U_PLATFORM_IS_DARWIN_BASED # define U_CHARSET_IS_UTF8 1 That is, U_PF_ANDROID was replaced by U_PLATFORM_IS_LINUX_BASED. Both openSUSE-Leap-42.3-DVD-x86_64.iso and openSUSE-Leap-42.3-NET-x86_64.iso are not bootable from any USB device when UEFI is enabled (secure boot disabled). Forcing the BIOS to legacy mode makes them boot. 2. When I install LEAP 42.3 in BIOS legacy mode, the installation works fine but after a reboot openSUSE is not being booted. The BIOS ignores the disk. My disk is a NVMe SSD. openSUSE installs grub to the /dev/nvmeXXX device, I've double checked. I tried multiple different USB devices with no success. Fedora 26, on the other hand, boots fine from the USB device, also with secure boot enabled, and after the installation Fedora is also bootable from the NVMe.
