Afterwards I installed from http://download.videolan.org/pub/vlc/SuSE/Tumbleweed/ the actual version of vlc or my own build version. In both cases the path to vlc remains /usr/local/ > command -v vlc /usr/local/bin/vlc. But /usr/share/applications/vlc uses the latest versions.
