COMMIT times regressed ~10x. The benchmark is doing random 8k writes into a large datafile (2*memsize) calling fsync after 800MB written and cycling 8k writes into wal file, fsyncing it every 5 writes. In parallel there are lots of random reads going on. The regression is caused by the fact that before above mentioned commit datafile inode was always attached to transaction in ext4_write_end() and thus random writes were continuously trickled to the filesystem using WRITE_SYNC writes. After the patch this does not happen and writes are written back by flush worker using async writes. Downloading them took nearly an hour on my 500Mbit/s connection. This could be a problem on upgrade too. I think packages should be made larger if possible, no one downloads fonts one-by-one. If you install the whole KDE distro from DVD it downloads about 3000 packages, latex shouldn't be half of that. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Issue command zypper in texlive-latex-bin-bin 2. Say yes to download 3. Actual Results: It started downloading 1600 packages. The error message when the limit is reached is this: AH00161: server reached MaxRequestWorkers setting, consider raising the MaxRequestWorkers setting I suggest the default configuration looks something like this: # number of simultaneous requests that will be served, correlates with ServerLimit # was called MaxClients in older Apache versions # http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/mpm_common.html#maxrequestworkers MaxRequestWorkers 150 The problem that I faced is that I was setting MaxRequestWorkers to a higher value, as the error message was suggesting, but MaxClients was set to a low value a few lines down.
