Unfortunately this seems to be a private function and so i could not easily write a test against the entire lib. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I provide an example program that uses a 1:1 copy of the original function. I use capi via JNI from Java and it crashes when freeing memory exactly as the test program does. Actual Results: Memory corruption when freeing the memory used for the data_b3_req-message. Expected Results: No memory corruption, the program should terminate without a problem. The last known working version (from openSuSE 10.3) assigned memory for SND_BUFSIZ bytes and copied the original message to this before copying the data bytes after the message and that worked. I will change the code of the function standardPutMessage to do this to avoid the problem and add a patch to this bug report if it works with the patch. When I start the notebook I see a normal booting screen (black with three green dots) and the KDE login screen appears. Now the screen begins to flash between black screen and normal picture. It's not screen tearing like I know from vsync-errors, but it flashes about 5 to 10 times a second and it happens on the whole screen at once. When I move the mouse the screen flashes about up to 30 times a second. When Firefox starts the screen doesn't flash as some elements in Firefox rotating. When the mouse stands still or Firefox finished loading, it flashes 5 to 10 times as before. In general when I click an application the flashing wents away until the menus are loaded. Then there's no change in the screen rendering anymore and it flashes like before. When I switch to TTY1 I can use the console as normal, there is no flashing. Back to TTY7 and it flashes again. Logging in to KDE doesn't helped. I also tested different settings in the KDE compositor settings with OpenGL 2, OpenGL 3, XRender. I have also tested the vsync setting "fullscreen repaint" (or something lika that, I'm using the german KDE version) My hardware: Toshiba Satellite P70-B-121 CPU and internal GPU: Intel Core i7-4720HQ Discrete GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8870M / R9 M270X/M370X --> Venus XT OS: Tumbleweed, installed in June and the bug still exists in the updated package versions from today I have attached some files from hwinfo and journalctl, I hope this helps! Most login managers react on this by replacing the dropdown user selection menu by a text field. To do this, the existing X11/Wayland/Whatever is stopped. Then 100 users are created and then the graphical session is restarted. This doesn't work anymore: ``` systemctl isolate multi-user.target # create 100 users systemctl isolate graphical.target ``` When the graphical target is isolated an error message is shown: 'Unable to contact settings server, Failed to connect to socket /run/user/1000/bus' openQA test in scenario opensuse-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-extra_tests_on_xfce@64bit fails in [multi_users_dm](http://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/335702/modules/multi_users… ## Reproducible Fails since Build [20170111](http://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/333055) ## Expected result Last good: [20170110](http://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/332625) ## Further details The issue has been triggered by starting the session D-Bus via systemd: https://build.opensuse.org/package/rdiff/Base:System/dbus-1?linkrev=base&re… It seems that pulseaudio and `spice-vdagent` are preventing the old session to close. When starting also pulseaudio via systemd and killing `spice-vdagent` before isolating the graphical target the issue doesn't occur. I think starting D-Bus via systemd is the right thing to as it allows usage of `busctl` for instance. It should be possible to reduce the problem by also starting pulseaudio via systemd. Not sure about `spice-vdagent`, though. There is probably not a good reason to do that. The systemd unit file can always be disabled by default if it conflicts with other components but there are cases where users may want to use these systemd utilities.
