Cosmetic ugly, technically low impact. Independent of theme (I verified k-air and ksplashx-suse) the error is the same. Once KDE splash super imposes the box, where the devices shows up one by one, once ready. Then it is clear that the whole box is not horisontaly centered. This only happens in a 2 screen configuration with different geometries bewtween the screen. My setup is a Thinkpad T60p in a minidock/port-replicator, and my screen is connected to the portreplicator. The attached screen is not the same geometry as the laptop screen. The laptop is closed. This happens in about 10% or 20% of the times I load buglist.cgi. I'm always logged in to bugzilla, so I can't say if it also happens for non-logged in users. To achieve that I use the KDE "Monitor and Display" settings dialog which I have saved. In 11.4 LVDS is disabled after login if the external screen is connected but not in the opposite case. In 12.1 I can't login with X anymore because I always see a black screen afterwards. Since I am using autlogin the screen turns black shortly after boot. Killing X and log in with KDM is possible since it uses the appropriate resolution but afterwards the screen turns black again. So basically KDE shouldn't use the saved screen configuration if the actual display setting has changed or the resolution doesn't fit. This might also be partly an X/Kernel bug but since KDM works after a ctrl + alt + backspace this is mainly a KDE issue. However, on this ASUS AMD x86-64x4 Nvidia Mother board about everything seems to fail to compile as needed. Like kmix fail to retain levels and guesses the pot incorrectly. I uses snd-hda-intel as a module as selected during "Autoconfig". Gmixer seems to find all of the pots correctly Kmix only finds 3 and no way to add pots. Yast2 finds it and hardware sound sets it up Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.startup X in runlevel 3 and hope /dev/dsp and others are set to 666 because kde/kmix/amarok/ or any other player will no work. 2.with snd-hd-intel as a module bring up "kmix" 3.See if the pots a labeled correctly and function is right Actual Results: No master volume control found and PCM is not seen anywhere on the mixer. Expected Results: I the last version about 5 or 6 pots allowed all signals to be controlled. In openSUSE 11.3 and openSUSE 11.4 it was included in the distros repository, however the old kde 3 version kbiff 3.9. On the authors homepage (http://www.kbiff.org/) is a link to a home repository containing the KDE 4 version kbiff 4.0. I think openSUSE ship with a mail notification utility for the KDE desktop, and going for kbiff would be a good think. As of current, kbiff is not available in the factory repository. In openSUSE 11.3 the maximized KDE panel automatically adapts to the screen size independent if the switch was from big to small or vice versa. Since openSUSE 11.4 this adaption doesn't work anymore at all. So if I switch to the laptop display the panel exceeds the screen size and in case of the opposite I have a small panel which only uses a fraction of the screen. If the panel is too big for the screen it is not that easy to change the panel settings at least for a new user. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use a laptop with a lower resolution than your external monitor and maximize the panel 2.connect the laptop to the external screen and deactivate the laptop display Actual Results: The panel doesn't adapt to the new screen size. Expected Results: The panel does adapt to the new screen size. This is most likely a KDE bug but according to this report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209962 it is an old issue.
