When I log in, some applications are autostarted. Among others a gkrellm in the upper left corner and an opera in the lower right. If I then move the mouse to the upper border, the panel appears as expected. Then I switch to a different desktop. Gkrellm is sticky, so it's still in the upper left, the rest is empty. If I now move the mouse to the upper screen border, the panel will shortly flash, but then appear *below* the krellm window, i.e., the upper border of the panel lines up with the lower border of gkrellm. There it stays. I.e., if I approach the pixel row of the lower gkrellm border, I can first see the blue glowing line at this position, then the panel pops up. If I then click on panel tool box and there on the 'Screen edge' button, the whole panel first jumps away to the lower border, from there I can move it back to the top. After that, it stays there for the rest of the session. If I log out and in again, the whole thing starts over again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. When I move the mouse over the XDMCP Host Window to select a remote host, the widow closes and I am returned to the normal login screen. I have the same result on three different systems once upgraded to KDE47. All worked fine when KDE46 and earlier. I am able to login to the remote machines via the CLI using ssh ipaddress Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot openSuSE 11.4/KDE47 2.AT Greeter (login) screen, select Menu-Remote Login (or alt-R) 3.XDMCP Host Window opens, displaying hosts willing to accept login 4. Move mouse over the XDMCP Host Window, window disappears. Actual Results: The XDMCP Host Window disappears, I am back at the normal login window. I am able to login to the local machine. This started on upgrade to KDE 4.8.2, and after installing patches and upgradeing to KDE 4.8.3, there was no improvement. There are no related bugs to this type of failure on kde.bugs.org. I have gone to settings -> configure Amarok -> configure Phonon and tested the sound playback hitting the test button. See the screen shot for this. When I hit test, the test sound plays perfectly, but the regular play button on an mp3 file (or any file for that matter) through Amarok will not play. The sliding progress marker for the file indicates that Amarok is playing the sound file, but no sound comes out of the speakers. After installing and setting the VLC backend, Amarok will play files, though it is an inadequate setup because the equalizer is disabled with VLC. The behavior has been the same on both 64 bit machines that I have. On one of my 32 bit machines, I also upgraded KDE to 4.8.2 and then 4.8.3, yet Amarok has not had a problem playing sound files on this machine. The reason I am posting the bug here in novell bugzilla is that I did not see any evidence that this was a specific KDE problem on other distributions besides openSUSE. I had one other person with the same problem on the openSUSE list.
