Also the error suggests maybe the error is easily fixed. It is not sufficient to unmount/eject drive, it must be completely powered off before removal. Please bring back "Safely remove" to Nautilus. I tried 4 Transcend flashes, 1 ADATA, 2 no-name (SMI and ChipsBnk). They remain powered after eject - it's DANGEROUS for my (and anybody's) data. I tried external USB-SATA Tsunami HDD - Disks does not spin down (stop) it - It's DANGEROUS for my (and anybody's) data. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert USB-flash or USB-hdd 2. Do something with this drive (copy files, move files, open files) 3. Try to Eject USB disk Actual Results: USB-flash is not powered off after eject (as it did in Nautilus 3.4.2 and 2.32). USB-HDD id not stop after unmount. Eject icon option is not present. Expected Results: USB-flash powered off (its LED is off). USB-HDD is spinned down (plates are stopped). This bug come from Nautilus. In order to remove the upstream kernel again, I deactivated the repository and uninstalled the versioned package (german text ahead): # zypper remove kernel-desktop-3.12.rc3-1.1.ge5ef0d0 Daten des Repositories laden ... Installierte Pakete lesen ... Paketabhängigkeiten auflösen ... Das folgende Paket wird GELÖSCHT: kernel-desktop The issue are the last two lines saying: The package below will be DELETED: kernel-desktop which is not true. Removing all versions of "kernel-desktop" would not be a good idea. Deleting this particullar version might be okay. The message should include the verison as well to not set the user on a false alarm. When proceding it does only delete the versioned message. It also crashes at random points when accessing other sites. Apart from that it looks like root cause for bnc#855415. Using nouveau or driver version mentioned below the bug disappears. I tried to build previous version (319.60) using RPM specs with the same results. Then I noticed new 319.82 version - using it seems to fix the problem. When using nouveau there were no problems as well, but it resulted in fan permanently running and very low on-battery time which is not an option unfortunately. Expected Results: It should be visible in the KDE tray. This bug exists only in KDE. With OpenSuse 12.3 I observe the following: With the standard configuration suspend to disk does not work. After the splash screen appears, the progress bar stops very early, the power button and the shift lock button start blinking, and the system freezes so that the only thing left is to switch off the notebook. This behaviour seems to be independent from various settings in /etc/suspend.conf. When I enter SLEEP_MODULE=kernel in a file in /etc/pm/config.d/ hibernate works. After resuming 8 additional kworker processes appear (the notebooks has 8 CPU threads). This happens after each resume so that many kworker processes appear after some resumes. The same happens after suspend to ram. This makes both suspend to ram and disk not really usable any more. Plugging in the power cable would abort the process. Unplugging the power cable again would restart the process again. That worked as many times as you liked. With 13.1 this only works once after a login to KDE. After plugging in the power cable and unplugging in again, the system does not attempt to hibernate and runs until the battery is dead. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Wait until system wants to hibernate 'within 30 seconds' 2. Plug the power cable in and unplug it again 3.
