As shown in the message log below, RPCBind is started but the NFS mount does not wait for it to complete before trying to mount the volumes. I tried adding the "B" option to rpcbind in "YaST::System Services (Runlevel)". I presume that encourages rpcbind to start earlier. And it does. However, the boot hangs at a certain point, it appears to be a deadlock; see the second code section below. Starting in FailSafe mode makes no difference. In YaST::System Services I can start the NFS services manually only if rpcbind is started first. So it makes me wonder if the log entry "Started RPC Bind" is true. (A number of other services have the "Yes*" status. I presume it means the service is supposed to start but has not actually done so.) In wireshark's options, in the "Capture" section, the following options are set: Promiscuous mode, rt updates, hide dialogue. The options pcap-ng and auto scrolling are unset. Tested with different interfaces. Reading a tcpdump pcap file with wireshark is no problem. Worked in 11.3, but I don't know which version from which repo I was using then. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. If I try, download of rpms succeeds but after this the installation is interrupted because of missing permissions. I can also see this behavior if I start sudo zypper in XYZ as normal user from its home directory. My system uses home directories on a nfs share where local root users do not have any permissions. So cd /tmp ; sudo zypper in XYZ will work as well as using su - But it's annoying if you start installation in the "normal" way using a desktop symbol of Yast or something like that and process fails everytime. Is there any configuration possibility to let zypper place its files in a defined folder? Zypper should recognize by itself if current working directory is no good place for temp data.
