It generally works well, but I am not getting an IPv6 link local address on the NIC connected to my cable modem. If I boot that computer with a 11.3 live CD, that NIC gets an IPv6 link local address. I can also manually add an address in the link local range (starts wit FE80) and ping it. The NIC attached to my local network gets a link local address as expected, as well as an address on my IPv6 subnet. All NICs in an IPv6 enabled system should have a link local address, without exception. BTW, to get my IPv6 subnet, I currently use a 6in4 tunnel to a tunnel broker. However, my ISP is supposed to be making IPv6 available via cable modem shortly, which means I'll be needing IPv6 on that NIC. I get my tunnel from http://gogonet.gogo6.com. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Installed 11.3 on computer with more than one NIC 2.Install tunnel broker software - I doubt this has any effect on the problem, as it makes no difference whether or not I load the software. 3. Actual Results: There is no link local address on that NIC when booting the installed system. There is if I boot from a live CD. When attempting to remove the flag, the partition is marked as unallocated. Repair is possible with some minor persistence, using the Windows 7 recovery software on the install disk but it is a pain. This has only happened using openSUSE. In any case, what does this flag mean? Why is it there? Can someone please fix this so it does not happen to a lesser tech savvy user, who may just give up on repairing this and lose everything? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use gparted 2.open partition flags dialog 3.uncheck type Actual Results: BCD boot partition is set as unallocated space. I lost the partition and had to do repairs from Windows instal disk, using command line tools. Expected Results: The flag should have been removed without killing my boot partition. The threading module wisely prohibits this and instead raises an exception. The result is an ugly error message for the user. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: from multiprocessing import Pool for d in range(2): p=Pool(2) p.close() Actual Results: Exception RuntimeError: RuntimeError('cannot join current thread',) in <Finalize object, dead> ignored This is a regression: It didn't happen in openSUSE 11.4 / Python 2.7. This bug also affects the multiprocessing.dummy module. It seems that this bug is only triggered when a close() is issued while another close() is still pending: Adding "p.join()" to the for-loop above inhibits the exception. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use desktop PCs with Intel Core i7 family processors. 2. Write C++ code that will do computations. 3. Compile in opensuse 12.2 and 12.3 with and without optimization options. 4. Measure speed of execution in both OSes in single-threaded run. Actual Results: With optimization, in opensuse 12.3, one iteration of outermost loop takes about 6 s. In opensuse 12.2, same takes about 3 s. Without optimization, the numbers are twice larger. Executable compiled in opensuse 12.2 and run in opensuse 12.3 also runs twice slower than in opensuse 12.2. Expected Results: Expected about the same time per loop iteration, or slightly better results for opensuse 12.3. The problem of speed degradation does not show up in small laptops with weak processors. It looks like large-scale RAM operations are not slowed down. One needs a set of computers with different configurations and OSes to pin down the root cause.
