I installed smuxi and tried to use it, only to find it doesn't work at all. If I try to open it nothing happens at all. When having installed the tomoyo-tools (2.4.0.20110929-83.1.2) and starting the machine with security=tomoyo, if done be editing by hand, after a short stop, the system starts without tomoyo working. No behavior is recorded. If putting security=tomoyo into the boot parameter then the system after having mounted the encrypted LVM gives the following error (after asking repeatedly again for the password to mount and blocks): "Kernel Panik (followed by a few lines of number sequences) then: Profile V.2.5 must be initialized. Module 20100903 not supported". A similar behavior is actually described on the Tomoyo site if a wrong tool module is used to initialize Tomoyo. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install opensuse 64 with encrypted Luks encrypted LVM. 2.Install tomoyo-tools, run the initialization, set the domain transition editor of the kernel to zone 1 (as in the nice video on youtube or on the Tomoyo Linux site). 3.Activate the option "security=tomoyo". 4.Reboot Actual Results: The system, if the parameter is set by hand, blocks but then starts without tomoyo working. The editor records nothing. If the parameter is set within yast to the bootloader, the system is halted with kernel panic and the error message as of above. I want to use diskless stations at home so I use one OpenSuSE server to provide iscsi disks for all other machines. On client machine I use ipxe to boot over iscsi. This is what I have to do to install OpenSuSE on them: -Boot on OpenSuSE 12.2 CDROM -add withiscsi=1 kernel option -choose the right network interface (eth0/wlan0), and use DHCP -on iscsi config screen, select and connect the right iscsi target and choose "onboot" option. -choose grub instead of grub2. (I have to tweak a little bit more the bootloader configuration if a harddrive exists on the machine because during install process, my iscsi disk is sdb and at boot time iscsi disk is sda). -disable SuSEfirewall because iscsi-target port is filtered. Why not add this tcp port is case of using withiscsi=1 switch ? -wait the end of install process. kexec boot fail to start the new system, it would be nice to reboot the machine in case of withiscsi=1 switch ? -/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 have to be created (doesn't exist on the end of install process since OS12.2!?) with bootproto=dhcp, usercontrol=no and startmode=nfsroot before first boot (*). -boot.iscsid-early and iscsid have to be disabled before first boot (*) because when they start, iscsi disk become unreachable and all read/write fail and system crash! (*) to do this modification before first boot, I mount the disk-image on the server and do a chroot on the filesystem to edit files or use systemctl or chkconfig to disable the two services. After this, my system is up and fine. The two services boot.iscsid-early and iscsid are left disabled. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. I've observed the problem with KDE, Gnome, XFCE, LXDE, etc. I installed kernel-3.3.0-2-default from milestone 3 to rule out KMS related problems, but the black screens continued. I would try rebuilding the radeon driver from milestone 3 under beta 1, but I cannot locate xorg-x11-driver-video-7.6-91.1.src.rpm. To reproduce. 1) First do an install of openSUSE 12.3 RC1 x86_64. 2) Accept the defaults (I also opened the ssh port). 3) Run zypper update to get all the latest updates. At this point my experience is that you have a functioning network and all is well. The problem begins when you want to change or add something. For example. 1. 'rcnetwork stop' does nothing. It states that it is redirecting to "systemctl stop network.service" (NetworkManager.service) but this actually does nothing. So neither the if<commands> or the systemctl commands for networking seem to do work. 2. Running 'yast2 lan' by default shows 'Traditional Method with ifup' on the Network Setup Method which seems untrue. If for example you create a bridge in yast, it is not reflected in the system. Neither 'ifconfig' nor 'brctl show' will show it. Yet it will remain defined in yast. 3. When I run 'Configure Desktop' -> 'Network Settings', it doesn't show the default interface created during installation (in my case, eth0). I'm not familiar with how this should work - just guessing that eth0 should show up as a wired connection. In summary, a working network is created at install time but none of the tools seem to be able to manage it or inter-operate. This becomes a critical problem for virtualization which requires us to be able to create a bridge before installing any guest. Turn off 3D graphics accelaration in VM guest settings 4. System will start in 800x600 mode 5. Turn on 3D graphics accelaration in VM guest settings and restart guest 6. openSUSE 12.3 will freeze on startup splashscreen Actual Results: With 3D graphics acceleration ON in VMware guest settings, OSS 12.3 freezes at startup splash screen. With 3D graphics acceleration OFF, it comes up in 800x600 mode. Will not go to full screen mode. Installed VMware host utilities and tried again. 3D graphics acceleration froze OSS 12.3 on startup, but 3D graphics acceleration OFF allowed system to come up and go to full screen mode.
