However, if one now adds: Requires(post): foo bs_sched may go into "expansion error" state when it cannot find a foo binary. I do believe this behavior is incorrect, because bar is not going to be installed any more than it was previously with just "Requires:". In the start() section of the script /etc/init.d/asterisk it checks to see if asterisk is running by executing the following command: /usr/sbin/asterisk -rx 'core show version' and extracts the first 8 characters from the output and compares it to the word "Asterisk". The problem is that asterisk colorizes its display so the first couple of characters are unseen control codes and this check will therefore fail when asterisk is already running. This can be fixed by changing the command to: /usr/sbin/asterisk -nrx 'core show version' (note the addition of the 'n' flag). This will stop asterisk from outputting control codes to colour the display and the script will therfore correctly test to see if it is running. The URL in the comment is broken. The patterns.rng is now located in Git under http://gitorious.org/opensuse/libzypp/blobs/master/zypp/parser/yum/schema/p… 2. The XML file itself is incomplete. How can a user know what to include when (a) the comment is deadly wrong, and (b) have no documentation? I would suggest the following solution: 1. Switching one URL to another is probably s shortterm solution, but I would like to see a more permanent one: a URL (or better URI) for the schema should constant. It doesn't help the user if he has to search for the RNG schema (which I doubt it will ever happen). Nevertheless XML aficionados (like me :) ) would be happy if we can copy an URL into our XML editor and start writing. It should be possible the URL stays as it is regardless of SVN, Git, or the other new version system in town that is currently hyped. ;) 2. Even worse, without documentation or the RNG schema, it is impossible to know what to include. By and large, it's a fabulous combination. However, I also use an external monitor frequently, and instead of letting the laptop sit idle consuming power for hours on end, I will typically suspend-to-RAM the laptop. This works very well! However, upon return, the displays (both of them) remain dark. This *only* happens when I am using the external monitor when I put the laptop to sleep. The only fix is to control-alt-backspace a few times to kill X, at which point things return to normal. Console does not work either. On a related note, what might be the best way to hook a *user* process into return-from-suspend. If I could hook into dbus somehow such that a user process was run upon return-from-suspend, I could fix this with xrandr (in the short term - this is not a real fix).
