Specifically: On Meego 1.2 IVI, added the fedora and fedora-update repos to zypper. It is able to find packages in the fedora repo, but NOT the fedora-update repo. Probably OS-independent. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. As root user, change directories: cd / 2. Download the files https://bugs.meego.com/attachment.cgi?id=4761 and https://bugs.meego.com/attachment.cgi?id=4762 to your / directory. 3. From the / directory, uncompress the files using: tar xvf <filename> Repeat this for each file. 4. Import the rpm keys. You will see many error messages, which can be safely ignored: cd /etc/pki/rpm-gpg rpm --import * 5. In the directory /etc/zypp/repos.d/edit the following files: —rpmfusion-free.repo —rpmfusionfree-updates.repo —rpmfusion-nonfree.repo —rpmfusion-nonfree-updates.repo —fedora.repo —updates.repo Make the following changes to each file: a.In the line beginning with baseurl, change the number 14 to 15. b.In the line beginning with gpgcheck, change the number 1 to 0. 6. Download the file https://fedoraproject.org/static/069C8460.txt, save it as 069C8460.txt and then import it by rpm: rpm --import 069C8460.txt 7. Refresh zypper's cache: zypper clean --all zypper --gpg-auto-import-keys refresh Search for packages in the fedora-updates repo, and they will not be found by zypper. Instead, it will return older packages from the fedora base repo. Specifically, I cannot find the updated gstreamer package (tested with others too, all failed). Actual Results: Search for packages in the fedora-updates repo, and they will not be found by zypper. Instead, it will return older packages from the fedora base repo. We should only have to configure our public NTP Server once in Yast. Again we see that we need to integrate far better into a default KDE Desktop with Yast Currently we have Yast>NTP/Server to set the system time. Next we have Date and Time and Country Settings in KDE's 'System Settings' – Here we must set and apply the Country before setting the Time Server. Both of these actions require escalation of authority to root 'Enter Root Password' which is presented out of focus, but this out of focus window is standard across just about everywhere in KDE. If the user takes too long to establish both country location and selection of time server we have the error attached! Next we have the Digital Clock Widget as part of a standard KDE Installation. Here we must also set Country and time again under Adjust Date and Time – which also calls for the root password and is out of focus Next we have 'Digital Clock Settings' from the same Widget. Here the 'Time Zone' must be entered and the default drop down needs to be changed to the Country Time Zone you have chosen, other wise you still get GMT. I understand the integration of Yast to a KDE Desktop is difficult, and on this occasion I think the 'Systems Settings' should be removed from both Configure Desktop and The default Time Widgets. Just about every popup window that requests the Root Password is out of focus – Do you want me to open a Bug just on that topic alone? This itself is not a very eloquent solution. There are vast numbers of duplication within Yast and 'System Settings' My gut tells me that long term we either get rid of Yast and put it in KDE's System Settings or the other way around – That subject is all yours to solve – I'm not going anywhere near that problem – Its all yours :-) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. (Could somebody please add the maintainer to this bug, I couldn´t find his email). The 6.12.22 crashed some days ago. The problem is that since then there is no possibility to get boinc running again, also in the version from saigil repro. I´ve googled with the result that I´ve found that there is a file called "lockfile" in the Dokument folder, which restrict the call of the boinc client to one. Sometimes this file causes problems, when it is still there after a closing or crashing of boinc. A manual deletion is recommend. In my case it was like this, but a manual deletion causes no success. The boinc client is still unable to run. A manual start of the client from the console give the sring like: Can´t start boinc, because boinc is running. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install the boinc version from this repro 2.wait until a crash happends 3.lay back and look at a not working program Expected Results: A informing of the maintainer of the repro would be great. And suggestions to get my boinc running again would be also great. This makes me unable to use my PC/SC controlled CyberJack chipcard reader. However, it seems to be a timing issue: in about 2% of all system startups the pcscd is yet loaded. In the /var/log/messages file I noticed the following messages concerning this matter: Jan 22 18:50:29 linux-pc pcscd: hotplug_libhal.c:562:HPRegisterForHotplugEvents() Could not initialise connection to hald. Jan 22 18:50:29 linux-pc pcscd: hotplug_libhal.c:563:HPRegisterForHotplugEvents() Normally this means the HAL daemon (hald) is not running or not ready. Jan 22 18:50:29 linux-pc pcscd: pcscdaemon.c:531:main() SVCServiceRunLoop returned Additionally, I noticed that sometimes also my ALSA sound driver is not loaded properly on startup, so I don't hear any system sound (in my KDE screen I'm getting a message box telling me that my "preferred output device for category "music" could not be detected). Also here, after manually reinstalling the previous "hal" package (0.5.14-9.1.1-x86_64), the problem disappeared as well. And again, this seems to be a timing issue: After manually reinstalling the previous "hal" package (0.5.14-9.1.1-x86_64), all works well again as before. The problems are reproducable, that means, installing v0.5.14-9.3.1-x86_64 let them occur again. My actual system configuration is: openSuSE 11.3 x86_64 / KDE 4.4.4 ("release 3"), 4 GB RAM Kernel 2.6.34.10-0.4-desktop using glibc 2.11.2-3.7.1.x86_64 pcsc-lite1 resp. libpcsclite1 32/64 bit 1.5.5-7.3.1 pcsc-cyberjack 3.99.5final.SP03-1.suse11.3 (3.3.5-1.26) Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Update from "hal" package v0.5.14-9.1.1-x86_64 to v0.5.14-9.3.1-x86_64 2.Reboot the system 3.In most cases pcscd is no longer automatically activated at startup. I tried a fresh gnome 11.3 installation. Nautilus and Yast (Gtk) sorted ok.
