The last shorewall package need and use ipset, but ipset is not published by default on 11.4 in obs it's state is unresolvable due to the need of kernel 2.6.39+ Having a running 11.4 and using the last shorewall (the only way to get it is using security-netfilter repo ) drive the system to a inconsistent state. Could you urgently provide the previous version for 11.4 or solve the ipset dependency ? I always used pdftex with plain TeX and tikz.tex, and it worked great until today. The paper I'm writing is long, so I reduced the problem to a simple plain TeX file to show that there's a bug with tikz.tex: %\input tikz Some text\footnote*{A footnote} \bye First, compile with 'tex thisfile.tex' with the tikz line commented out. See the footnote in the resulting dvi. Now compile again but this time including the tikz line, and see how the footnote disappears! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just compile the above 3-line file with \input tikz and without 2. 3. Actual Results: The \input tikz line makes the footnote disappear from the dvi. Expected Results: If no tikz command is used, just including tikz.tex should not break the resulting output file. This used to work in openSUSE 11.4 and I rely on this behavior to write my papers. For me in particular this is bug with Severity: Major, because I rely deeply on the tikz feature on plain Tex to write my papers. This situation was brought to my attention by Tyler_K in the openSUSE forums. Got the section that starts with: 5. Technical 5.1. Initializing Graphics with KMS (Kernel Mode Setting) Actual Results: Specifies you should modify the menu.lst file to add the nomodeset command. Expected Results: Specify you should modify the /etc/default/grub file to add the nomodeset command. I might suggest you use a line like the following which might make more sense. With openSUSE 11.3 we switched to KMS (Kernel Mode Setting) for Intel, ATI and NVIDIA graphics, which now is our default. If you encounter problems with the KMS driver support (intel, radeon, nouveau), disable KMS by adding nomodeset to the kernel boot command line. To set this permanently using Grub 2, the default boot loader, add it to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT kernel default load options line in your /etc/default/grub text file as root and running the terminal command "sudo /usr/sbin/grub2-mkconfig --output=/boot/grub2/grub.cfg" for the changes to take effect. Else, for Grub Legacy, add it to the kernel command line in /boot/grub/menu.lst, also done as root. This option makes sure the appropriate kernel module (intel, radeon, nouveau) is loaded with modeset=0 in initrd, i.e. KMS is disabled. Thank You, James D.
