Guest: 12.1. 10 GiB reiserfs and 2 GiB for swap. Host: 11.4, Vmware Player 4.0.1 Then I updated it, hitting Bug 745024 - Kernel vmlinuz-3.1.9-1.4 update failure. Now I run pm-hibernate to see if the problem is reproducible... and no, it is not. The entire hibernate-thaw process takes less than half a minute! Ah, hold on! I did not use the "echo" procedure you said. Trying now. [...] Booted ok. Different procedure, but end result the same, success. So... I don't know what to do. I will later install your kernel and see what happens. Funny. The "echo" procedure plays badly with vmware player, it breaks something. When the VM powers off, the Player looses control and start of the VM is impossible. I have to close the window and start it again. This happened as well with the standard kernel. Otherwise, the VM thaws correctly and fast. As webdav client I use Dolphin or Konqueror. On the file server Microsoft Internet Information Services, version 6.0, is installed. The webdavs-server offers me a SSL-certificate, which I accept permanently in Konqueror. In OpenSUSE 11.3 or 11.4 the browsing through the folders or copying of files takes very long. Even if I install the latest updates/patches in 11.4 the problem is still there. In OpenSUSE 11.2 or 10.2 I have no problems (no matter if I install updates/patches or not). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Konqueror (or Dolphin) 2. Enter a URL like webdavs://exampleserver.com (you need a webserver with webdav and SSL-access configurated) 3. accept SSL-certificate 4. enter login/passwort 5. try to copy file on/from webdav-server Actual Results: The performance/access is extremely slow. It's caused by the background image. I tried a different mechanism () to load to background image, the same bandwidth consumption was the same. If you want to get rid of the background while YaST is running you can press Crt+Alt+Shift + S and then click the Apply-Button to apply an empty style sheet. Now I discovered, if any program like yast ask for the root password, I can enter everything and it works. So there is no security! One more information: I use two passwords, one for the user one for the root (so I configured that while the installation -> disabled the function "use password also for root" and entered an other password for the root). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open a program which need the root password 2.enter any string 3.get access Actual Results: I can enter every combination of number, letters and special character to get root access.
