In evolution, it is just a string. Thus, when following Evolution instructions, making any entries into that field in the gui results in a "type mismatch" error. Essentially, if I understand this correctly, the evolution schema for ignore_hosts proxy entry conflicts with the gconf schema. MANUALLY changing the .gconf/apps/evolution/shell/network %gconf file into a list of strings does not help or prevent this error. Note that Evolution appears to be mishandling external (proxied) URL requests. I haven't had images in evolution mail for ages, no matter what the settings. My belief is that it may be due to this schema conflict. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.start Evolution Preferences 2.Choose network proxy settings 3.set a manual proxy, and enter "localhost, 127.0.0.1, <another>" in "Ignore Hosts" entry. Actual Results: Error message pops up about "Type Mismatch: expected string, got list" or words to that effect. Going back to "System settings" doesn't help, and evolution will then fail the login to the Exchange server. The only fix is to delete "~/.gconf/apps/evolution/shell/network*" %gconf file. Expected Results: I would expect no errors, and proper proxy (and ignore_host) handling by evolution I believe this may be related to bug #476442 which reports improper URL handling by Evolution, related to proxies. That bug says the url handling fix is in 2.24.5 of evolution, but the openSuSE Evolution:STABLE repo still only has 2.24.4. For some of us, Evolution is USELESS until this is fixed. In M.S Windows we have "My Computer" In KDE Konqueror we have sysinfo:// In Gnome we do not have one display that I can find that summarises the information above. The closest thing is to install the optional "System Monitor" which does give some information. If I had a gnome issue and I needed to call Suse Teck Support - how would I answer the support persons first questions like What Version of Suse are you running? What Video Card are you using? Do you have enough hard disk space left? How Much RAM is Installed in your PC and currently available? Do you have a DVD drive or only a CD or Neither? Are you running out of space on any partition? What Kernel are you Running? What type of CPU do you have - is it 64Bit - what speed is it running at? So unless I have missed something - there appears to be no sysinfo type screen to answer typical questions for trouble shooting. If someone installed Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop and selected Gnome, how does the user provide this basic information to the support assistance. I really hope I have just not found this sysinfo information application in Gnome, but if it is absent, this is a huge error and bug for both open and Enterprise Gnome Desktops which a simple patch fix could correct very quickly Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
