Unable to open session: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory" and the boot process stops. I have to click on "OK" before the boot process proceeds. I already reinstalled ConsoleKit but that did not help. I have an excerpt with the last entries of kdm.log attached. Normally it is possible to use the environment variable http_proxy to network access possible again (not only for zypper, but many proxy using applications). Problem: Unable to create BT device. Chip is recognized. Ubuntu CD works well. If first, I load Ubuntu then I do a soft reboot to opensuse, then everything works well. The Atheros chip that is in this mobo does not have a flash memory therefore the firmware has to be loaded after a hard reboot. It seems openseuse is unable to load the firmware while ubuntu is not. If Ubuntu loads the firmware and I do a soft reboot to opensuse then is OK. Opensuse: 1. has the correct firmware in /lib/firmware/ath3k-1.fw 2. has the firmwareloader /usr/src/linux-2.6.37.6-0.7/drivers/bluetooth/ath3k.c 3. It recognizes the chip # dmesg | grep Bluetooth [ 11.843197] Bluetooth: Atheros AR30xx firmware driver ver 1.0 4. It does not create the device # hcitool dev Devices: Thxs -=terry=- Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Load opensuse 2.# dmesg | grep Bluetooth [ 11.843197] Bluetooth: Atheros AR30xx firmware driver ver 1.0 3.# dmesg | grep Bluetooth [ 11.843197] Bluetooth: Atheros AR30xx firmware driver ver 1.0 The interesting finding is that if I boot the ubuntu life CD, BT works as expected. Then if I I restart ubuntu but at the boot screen I choose opensue, then BT works as it is expected. Because of this behavior I assume the firmware is not loaded. Finally after removing all XFCE and rebooting the Appearance app was gone. I finally found that the gnome-tweak-tool is the new Gnome3 app for changing theme and window decoration. After looking I found this in the same Gnome Stable repository and installed it.
