It used to work in openSUSE 11.2 and before. Further investigations show that the needed module aha152x_cs.ko is not available anymore. I can not find it under /lib/modules and I am not able to find a package that contains the module. :-( pccardctl shows that the pc card itself has been found and I also see entries in the sys filesystem. This can be IMHO considered a security risk. into X11:lxde repository is available and updated package that fix that. lxdm now run the greeter as user "lxdm" instead than "root" i would like to release a maintenance update for it (and other issues listed below). other relevant informations: 1) the upgrade fix also bnc#619769 2) the upgrade fix racing conditions caused by wrong signals handling (switch to init 3 do not killed X server in rare cases) 3) /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf and /var/lib/lxdm change ownership (from root:root to lxdm:lxdm) and the user and group lxdm are added to the system 4) better logging handling (lxdm now properly use glibc functions to menage logs) 5) fix bug sf#3032025 LXDM never calls pam_acct_mgmt 6) general better stability BUT 7) all those changes can NOT be backported to 0.2.0 codebase but will requires an update to a more recent git snapshot. the pacakge is into X11:lxde/lxdm if a review is needed, it has been heavly tested i believe that the bugfixes worth the upgrade Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ldap client accesses from 11.3 fail when using TLS. For example: ldapsearch -ZZ -h my.ldap.host.domain ldap_start_tls: Connect error (-11) additional info: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed (self signed certificate in certificate chain) The error message is probably referring to the CA certificate which resides in /etc/ssl/certs/myown-ca.cert.pem on server side and which is self signed. Other ldap client services like Yast-Ldap-Browser or Yast-User-Management give the same error. I know this is not a really severe bug, but it annoys me every time I write an email, because I have to switch back to the mouse and than back again to the keyboard. When I now connect a digital camera, a popup appears that "You have inserted a medium with digital photos. Choose what application to launch. Select... Which made the machine unsuable for more than 20 minutes (and it's a laptop with an Intel Core2 Duo 2.Ghz, 4GB RAM, and a 7200 rpm hdd) .. There issue was reported here first: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2010-08/msg00406.html /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-do.desktop does not have an OnlyShowIn=GNOME; or NotShowIn=KDE; element, hence gnome-do gets autostarted by KDE, and gnome-do seems to trigger tracker to start under KDE. Please alter the gnome-do.desktop file so it is not started under KDE. I think to make sure those line gets added in any case to the user's /etc/cups/cupsd.conf it is best to add it via "sed" magic via RPM post-install script if there is not yet a "RIPCache" line in the user's /etc/cups/cupsd.conf (e.g. when a server admin had already specified his specific RIPCache value). 128 MB is half of the minimum required RAM (256 MB) and a quater of the recommended RAM (512 MB) for a system where openSUSE is to be installed (according to what I found on a openSUSE 11.2 box) so that "RIPCache 128m" should be a safe default which can be set on any user's system. If these mount points are not able to be mounted during installation time they result in a negative amount of space requirements for storage calcualtion. This results in being unable to progress the install. In my case the mount points were not even to any location that the installation may have written to, they were places like /nfs/foobar/dir and /nfs/foobar. Also the reason they would not mount was due to the use of a short label for the hostname (which has yet to be setup in /etc/hosts) to that the 'df' output looks pretty. So the issue here is that the system could ignore mount points that are not required by the installation process (since they are not part of the normal file system paths). It shouldn't mark the storage requirements with a negative figure, this is non-intuative as to the real problem. Which is that it the installation has been unable to mount/verify the NFS server. Up to where I know this is just a crash problem, not a security risk. But since multiple packages could be affected I CC the security-team. IMHO the package in the devel should be fixed, updates published for any affected 11.3 package... and the package in openSUSE:11.3 project be modified. The packages libqt4-sql and libqt4-sql-sqlite were yet installed before! As I didn't understand the situation, I've installed randomly these packages: litqt4-sql-mysql, litqt4-sql-postgresql and litqt4-sql-unixODBC. After doing this, digikam started correctly. So it seems that it needs at least _one_ of these packages to work correctly. Then I corrected the time in YaST. The following reboot, the time was wrong of 7 hours (the difference between Italy and US). So I followed some suggestion given to me on IRC: - Set time with date - Sync hwclock to system time - Delete /etc/adjtime When the system is on, both the clocks are fine, but at the following reboot the problem is there again. I then found this post: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/install-boot-login/437966-… where the proposed solution is the same as above, but with the addition of running mkinitrd at the end. It worked, however it is not clear to me why I should run mkinitrd to change the time, and I think it is a bug. So, if the user calling /usr/sbin/Check while rebuilding for example an opensuse source rpm his .bashrc is consulted but the bash runs in sh-mode. Hence "rpmbuild --rebuild" may fail due to the $HOME/.bashrc of an arbitrary user. One possible solution is to change the shebang line in /usr/sbin/Check to #!/bin/bash Another solution is to put more intelligence into the code to tell apart bash and sh in /etc/profile.
