When testing the same as above from the US, aria2c does not contact 5 mirrors; it contacts only one, and if that is utexas.edu, the download takes a minute instead of 2-4 seconds. That's how it should be. I can insert pictures from file without any problems, using Insert -> Picture -> from file ... Outside of oowriter, iscan happily works with my epson stylus sx130 scanner. Attempts to print from LibreOffice fires the printer up for warm up, then appears to send empty file. This is absurd, I'm saving, not loading. The next box says "General error / General input/output error" So I save to a local folder, and attempt to move that file to the shared file in an xterm. Now I get the message that it is a "Read-only file system". Which turns out to be true. From that moment on, I could not open any file that is on a network share - just the info box "crashed file has to be restored" appears, but no file is shown in the list, and when clicking OK, OOo is gone. But lucky me - I copied a file onto my local disk and it opens fine! So, it's not the file itself, it must be the file system. Since most of my files are in the network and can be accessed via cifs only, I have to stick to OOo 3.1 as long as this behaviour isn't fixed. I have this behaviour on 3.2.0.7 as well as 3.2.0.5 - just didn't report it then. The new LibreOffice distributed with OpenSuse 11.4 (LibreOffice 3.3.2 OOO330m19 (Build:202)tag libreoffice-3.3.2.2) opens the first files extremly slowly (I am not talking about the known phenomenon that it takes some time to open files directly from dolphin etc., but if I start LibreOffice and if I try to open existing files from a local harddisk it may take up to 10 to 15 seconds. At the same time, the CPU frequency jumps up to its maximum. Once I have worked with calc or writer for a while, all files (not only those being in the cache) will be opened normally (< 1 second). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start LibreOffice Writer 2. Open existing files (irrespective whether doc, odt, xls, ods) 3. Actual Results: It will take up to 15 seconds to open an existing files and the cpu frequency jumps to its maximum (even if I load small files < 20k). Expected Results: File should be opened much faster. I have started an old OpenSuse Live CD with OpenOffice, an the (same) files are opened much faster. As I have not made any modifications during the installation of OpenSuse 11.4, I cannot tell whether its a problem of LibreOffice, KDE or the distro. If i manually configure internet connection without dhcp - again it's not working (not sending or receiving data over ethernet). Physically reconnecting USB adapter seems to help - all working fine. I can even restart GNOME or whole X11, sometimes. But after reboot the problem repeats. I tried to do net-install - network works during installation - and stop working when GDM starts at the end of installation. I tried to boot Gnome LIVECD - network works fine, before X11 starts. I tried another login manager - LXDM - with twm, started from it - all forks fine.
