After restart I couldn't pass after login screen. After reset of X OS returned to text mode. I tried with Factory repo, downgraded KDE back to 11.4, issue still exist. I´ve aborted the libxine installation that kaffeine offer, because of yast2 software install was already running and buisy. After that I close kaffeine itself and as said kaffeine-xbu keeps acrtive(observed it from system monitor). Now (after a zypper up if I recall) it is showing three, the new one being the failsafe. I had also removed GNOME patterns after taking a look at the new GNOME, and KDM still shows the GNOME session available. I am not sure thats really a bug though, but thought it could be related. And installed laptop_mode package. In regards to removing GNOME I was very careful to make sure that the other patterns I had installed weren't affected, so I can't imagine that somehow is what introduced the pattern. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select different session Actual Results: It manages to freeze up the system so well I can't even drop to a TTY. I have to hold the power button down to reboot. However, the hostname being displayed doesn't correspond to the hostname assigned by DHCP. If I login and then out, the hostname is corrected. It was suggested to me that this is most likely because systemd starts the display manager before the hostname is correctly set. Check the power profile that is currently being used. 3. Go "Power Profiles". 4. Pick the active power profile. 5. Enable "Display Brightness" and drag to the leftmost side. 6. Hit "Apply". Actual Results: Brightness does not change. Expected Results: Brightness should have changed to the lowest value. Dragging the brightness value to a value that is slightly lower than the lowest value works as expected. The user may want to reconfigure the device after its discovered, and have it rediscovered under its new configuration. Since i`m using virtual box, desktop effects from KDE make the system a bit slow and to be honest i`m not much of a "desktop effects" fan either. So i have opened Configure Desktop --> Desktop Effects --> unchecked the box that enabled the automatic start of desktop effects --> Apply, and then nothing happened, the effects where still active. In order for them to get disabled i had to reboot the OS from the virtual machine(call it a workaround). Since this is my first bug, please tell me what logs should i add. Kernel: Linux creation 3.1.0-rc9-1-default #1 SMP Thu Oct 13 19:25:59 UTC 2011 (11f65b5) i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux KDE version: 4.7.2 fresh from Factory repo as the RC itself :) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start Configure desktop 2. go to Desktop effects and check the box to activate effects and uncheck it again 3. Reboot the system to see if effects are disabled PS: this was best noticed after a fresh install when KDE desktops are enabled by default. Actual Results: After performing the above steps including the reboot the effects where disabled. Cosmetic ugly, technically low impact. Independent of theme (I verified k-air and ksplashx-suse) the error is the same. Once KDE splash super imposes the box, where the devices shows up one by one, once ready. Then it is clear that the whole box is not horisontaly centered. This only happens in a 2 screen configuration with different geometries bewtween the screen. My setup is a Thinkpad T60p in a minidock/port-replicator, and my screen is connected to the portreplicator. The attached screen is not the same geometry as the laptop screen. The laptop is closed. This happens in about 10% or 20% of the times I load buglist.cgi. I'm always logged in to bugzilla, so I can't say if it also happens for non-logged in users. To achieve that I use the KDE "Monitor and Display" settings dialog which I have saved. In 11.4 LVDS is disabled after login if the external screen is connected but not in the opposite case. In 12.1 I can't login with X anymore because I always see a black screen afterwards. Since I am using autlogin the screen turns black shortly after boot. Killing X and log in with KDM is possible since it uses the appropriate resolution but afterwards the screen turns black again. So basically KDE shouldn't use the saved screen configuration if the actual display setting has changed or the resolution doesn't fit. This might also be partly an X/Kernel bug but since KDM works after a ctrl + alt + backspace this is mainly a KDE issue. However, on this ASUS AMD x86-64x4 Nvidia Mother board about everything seems to fail to compile as needed. Like kmix fail to retain levels and guesses the pot incorrectly. I uses snd-hda-intel as a module as selected during "Autoconfig". Gmixer seems to find all of the pots correctly Kmix only finds 3 and no way to add pots. Yast2 finds it and hardware sound sets it up Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.startup X in runlevel 3 and hope /dev/dsp and others are set to 666 because kde/kmix/amarok/ or any other player will no work. 2.with snd-hd-intel as a module bring up "kmix" 3.See if the pots a labeled correctly and function is right Actual Results: No master volume control found and PCM is not seen anywhere on the mixer. Expected Results: I the last version about 5 or 6 pots allowed all signals to be controlled. In openSUSE 11.3 the maximized KDE panel automatically adapts to the screen size independent if the switch was from big to small or vice versa. Since openSUSE 11.4 this adaption doesn't work anymore at all. So if I switch to the laptop display the panel exceeds the screen size and in case of the opposite I have a small panel which only uses a fraction of the screen. If the panel is too big for the screen it is not that easy to change the panel settings at least for a new user. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use a laptop with a lower resolution than your external monitor and maximize the panel 2.connect the laptop to the external screen and deactivate the laptop display Actual Results: The panel doesn't adapt to the new screen size. Table within a frame is not saved correctly. Also clipart are moved totally out of position in a text box .
