For example if a feature title is "some interesting feature", it can be found by using "some interesting" and "interesting feature" but not using "some feature". The search box could use a syntax similar to google: use spaces to specify separate keywords and double quotes to group keywords. Another possiblity is like in bugzilla to have the possibility to choose between "contains any of the words" or "contains all the words" Reproducible: Always This feature is important, because the submitters are supposed to search through existing features before submitting a new feature, to prevent duplicates. I guess opensuse wiki use the browser settings to "automagically" guide the user to the corresponding localized site (Spanish in my case). Whenever I want to enter into English wiki (which usually holds more updated information) I have to manually select the language from the jump menu and perform this action every time I want to access "en.opensuse.org". The reason that I have filed one bug for these issues is because IMHO the regression since 11.3 is so severe that the real question is whether there is any point in keeping OpenCT in the default openSUSE repositories at all. OpenCT used hal in 11.3, but uses udev in 11.4. According to the udev setup information at http://www.opensc-project.org/openct/wiki/OperatingSystems the file /etc/udev/rules.d/50-openct.rules is required, but is missing from the current distribution. This stops OpenCT functioning. Manually adding the file by copying etc/openct.udev from the source RPM allows the ifdhandler process to start when a compatible smartcard is inserted, but we then hit the same issue as described in bug 580144 which is that the device created in /dev/bus/usb/ is owned by root:root, but the configuration in /etc/openct.conf specifies that the ifdhandler process runs as scard:scard. Problem did not exist before upgrade. When ntp is set to start during boot, a complete copy of /proc appears as /var/lib/ntp/proc. It behaves the same as the proc virtual file system. Reports size as 104 Terabytes. It is not a link. When system is closed down it is removed (checked from other OS on same machine). If ntp is started manually after boot this does not happen. Symptoms can be repeated at will. I tried starting ntp from /etc/init.d/boot.local. Above behaviour did not occur, BUT I found a directory /var/lib/ntp/var/lib which contains a link to /var/lib/ntp. This link can be followed recursively until boredom sets in. I also have a problem sometimes when I am unable to either logout or shutdown from KDE. I think this only happens when ntp is running, but I cannot be sure of this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot without ntp started during boot. 2. Confirm no such dir as /var/lib/ntp/proc 3. Set ntp to start at boot and re-boot 4. Find /var/lib/ntp/proc which is identical to /proc 5. Close down this system and check by other means that this dir does not exist, ie it is virtual. Actual Results: See above Expected Results: It should not have done this at all ! System is basically standard but with some additional software (normal SUSE stuff), with all updates done as they appear. I have looked at the logs but can find nothing that looks relevant. As the clean install of RC2 on hw1 has the right permissions, I suspect that the initial install of RC1 on vm1 had the wrong permissions *and* the dup to RC2 on vm2 didn't fix it. About a week ago it started failing completely in that the left click function disappeared after about ten minutes after boot (around 646 seconds reported in dmesg). dmesg reports 342.449861] Registered led device: psmouse::synaptics [ 342.487837] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input15 [ 371.005403] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 1 bytes away. There are multiple lines of the form of the last one, throwing x bytes away. This occurs for ***BOTH*** the touchpad and a Targus USB RF mouse. Thus it was NOT a touchpad or mouse hardware failure, but a driver issue. Obviously, I've checked the "kcmshell4 synaptiks" settings to no avail. I even wrote a script to dump and reload the driver: modprobe -r synaptics_i2c modprobe synaptics_i2c su andy -c "kcmshell4 synaptiks" to run whenever the mouse died, but it doesn't fix the left click problem. I tried using yast2 mouse to select different options. No choice seemed to make a difference. I tried different versions (desktop, pae, failsafe) of the kernel. No change. There was an associated problem I call "blitzing": if you slid a finger quickly across the bottom of the pad or the keyboard (as in wiping it off) it would often crash the system to a user login screen. I thought it might be an issue with electrical static... ===== Today I used a live DVD to run CENTOS 6.0 and the touchpad worked just fine. So then I downloaded several new Kernel versions, all versions 3.0.4-43: debug default desktop pae vanilla and their FailSafe variants. **The touchpad works just fine on vanilla!!** and does NOT on the SUSE adapted variants. It has been up for over two hours now. There also has not been any instance of the "blitzing." So it would seem that there is a problem with a SUSE patch to the kernel or its synaptic driver, **predating the current version** as I just loaded 3.0.4-43 today. I *was* on 2.6.37.6-0.7 when the critical loss of a right click occurred. (There is also a screen issue with all of the kernel versions and the HP tm2t, in that you turn off ACPI for the screen to work. I'll report details on that separately, but I cannot see the screen on the "default" and "pae" 3.0.4-43 versions, so cannot confirm that the mouse/pad does not work on them, but vanilla definitely DOES work. (There is also an issue with the wifi driver on the current version, again, I'll report separately - it works fine, but the led is alternating between red and white about twice a second... (And bluetooth still doesn't work...) I'll be glad to help in any way. I would love to have pad, screen, and bluetooth working on this machine. Like some people I know, it is lovely to look at but rather worthless if you can't get it to work... :-) Let me know how I can help further. At least the way it is installed on RedHat/Fedora by default, if you have local access to the machine, you can read the archives of any mailing list, including private mailing lists. This appears to still be present as of mailman-2.1.9-10.fc9.x86_64.rpm, but I haven't attempted a clean install so it could be a matter of legacy mailing lists. /var/lib/mailman/private is set up mode 2771, (mailman,mailman). Under that directory are the archive directories in plaintext, publically writable (so that the http server can access them via a symlink from the public directory). There is no salting, so if you know the name of the list and has local access to the machine, you can access the archives simply by cd'ing to /var/lib/mailman/archives/private/<listname>. The obvious fix for this is to salt the directory names, but this requires that legacy installations be migrated. The second problem is that vm-install does not work anymore because it has also no access to the console. After answering all questions the following appears: "Installation wird vorbereitet ... Installation ... Konnte die Konsole der VM nicht anzeigen. Bitte verbinden Sie sich mit einem manuellen Viewer." After that vm-install hangs until i destroyed the domain in a new putty session. The problems were starting with the fact that i could not create a new domain with vm-install with a certain dvd-iso file (openSUSE 11.1) which was not a problem before different times. Maybe it was a mistake i made before, that i mounted (and umounted) xvdb (the iso file in the domain config) in a domU. Later i was reading that this shouldn't be done in a paravirtualized guest. I didn't try restart xend until now because i fear that the guests will not start properly. However, i don't know if it is a bug or something is getting corrupt in the xen system. The other with the running daemons on the system. There is libvirt0.8.8 installed when I remember right. May be that this is the problem. There is as far as I know a newer version. It may also be my setup at all: Try to run XEN in VirtualBox might be a not so great full idea at all. Usually the brightness is controlled between 0% and 100% in 9 steps. Step 0 (0%) and Step 1 (~11%) work as expected. When I increase the brightness to Step 3 the display is extremely bright (looks like 100%). In step 4 the screen flickers with about 20Hz between 100% and 0%. When I continue increasing the brightness it takes a few seconds until the system freezes. This is reproducible on my Samsung NC10 to 100% for the flickering and about 50% for the freeze. With openSuse 11.4 everything works fine. How can I provide more detailed information? I left everything on default settings from the Live CD Gnome build 315 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Gnome Live CD Build 315 on a netbook/notebook 2. Observe initial brightness that is set to 100% 3. Increase / Decrease brightness with hardware button (move the value to 0% Actual Results: Screen Flickers and System crashes.
