Also after quitting the application, x-server gets killed automatically and I am led back to gdm screen. Happens every time with or without compiz enabled. For example, while 'dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null' reports 75 MB/s, iotop shows approximately 200-300 PB/s. It doesn't seem to be a problem of iotop itself, however, as binary from OpenSuSE 11.2, run under 11.3 and chrooted to root directory of 11.2 installation, behaves the same (under 11.2 it's OK). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run iotop 2. run 'dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/zero bs=1M count=1K' 3. see the output of iotop 4. compare with speed reported by dd Actual Results: Values reported by iotop are much higher (at least 1E9 times) than values reported by dd. This crash also happens with openSUSE 11.1 using the latest 1.4.4 versions of cups. This crash does NOT happen with cups 1.3.x provided by the distribution and also did not happen with later 1.4 versions installed. It did appear after an update to 1.4.4-48 about a week ago. But, anyway, here goes: For personal reasons, I like to set the following option in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf: commit.downloadMode = DownloadInAdvance In this case, IMHO, the "perform installation" screen should have two progress bars, one showing how much of the current package is being downloaded, and one showing how many more packages are to be downloaded, then installed. As it is now, the "bottom" progress bar stays at 0% while downloading, giving no clue as to whether this will take ages or just a few seconds more... Too bad!
