The problem is present for long years now, and it is still present in 11.3. In short: updater applet access data in such way, that it blocks SM, and since applet works all time, when you run SM it will complain about not getting exclusive lock on local data. For average user the error is meaningless, but what worse the solution for everyone is to quit the applet. But quiting the applet contradicts its sense of existence. But for I had asked in several forums and did not find any dokumentation I do ask this as a bug: How to make pam_mount known to my openSUSE-11.3 system? The installation stops while the autoconfiguration is running, yast2 seems to be death (happened already with Build0254 on 2009-09-02). The machine is pingable. Without automatic configuration yast2 crashes and is started again and again on every reboot.
