Log file /var/log/lighttpd/error.log attached. Looking inside the log file and searching the web, I've found similar topic (http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-buildservice/2009-05/msg00093.html) with the solution to make correct access rights for files that obs and lighttpd uses. Looking for the current access rights I've found, that file /srv/www/obs/api/log/backend_access.log was owned by root. Changing owner to lighttpd solved the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install OBS 1.7 on openSUSE 11.2 using ymp package 2. Do the instructions in README.SETUP until step 4 3. But opening this menu, it will close again at once. This is clearly caused by the applet. Closing the applet, the "more" menu opens nicely and stays open. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open kupdateapplet 2. Does > that sound reasonable? There is a problem with using the notification icon always, namely that the checking of updates happens at some pre-defined time automatically. If a user wants to manually check for updates, then the control centre button for "Update system" is required (of course also from the yast interface). So I think it might not be a good idea to do away with this button entirely. In view of this, it might be better to simply rename one of these two buttons to make it clearer. Does > that sound reasonable? Yes, it does. And the same workaround could be used also for: 1) Add/remove software - gnome-packagekit-application, which is package manager for Gnome. This item could be hidden and Install/remove software - YaST software manager should stay visible. 2) Software Sources. Do we need this item in Control Center, forasmuch as we can manage repositories in YaST-Software repositories, or in YaST-Software manager? Software sources could be also hidden. Every once in a while, a big bnch of my builds fail, and the build log only shows: > osc bl 11.2 i586 504 remote error: remote error Gateway Time-Out The gateway that timed out was reaching api.opensuse.org. This is a major issue as it requires manual re-triggering of those packages. See http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/latest/ar01s04.html. The bug casues an empty Applications menu in case you run an unpatched KDE and not the openSUSE packages. Due to a patch i(gnore-inline-menu.diff) to openSUSE's kdelibs4 the bug is not visible there, although the patch only has this as a sideeffect, it is not the real fix. The real fix is to add <Merge type="menus"/> <Merge type="files"/> or something similar to the applications.menu. PS: kde trunk has a workaround so it can deal with broken applications.menu, but this doesn't change the fact that the shipped file is broken.
